Job Description BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Senior
Mechanical Engineer to support our work as a prime contractor on
high-profile U.S. Navy facility development, recapitalization, and
construction projects. Accuracy, integrity, subject matter
expertise, and the ability to work well independently and with

development, code compliance reviews, and ensuring SSP specific
requirements are incorporated into the mechanical design portion of
conceptual, preliminary and final design documentation. This
includes both BAE conceptual designs and designs created by other
architectural engineering firm hired as the responsible engineer
for the project.As a decades long sole source partner on multiple
contracts on behalf of our customer, our program has remarkable

team.About the programOur organization has supported the U.S.
Navy's Strategic Systems Program (SSP) continually since the
program's inception in the 1950s. SSP developed the first
sea-based, underwater-launched Strategic Weapon System (SWS), a
defense system that is truly critical to our national security. For
more than six decades, SSP has maintained and upgraded this weapon
system and BAE has been there every step of the way. The sea-based
SWS is the ultimate stealthy weapon system and as the first leg of
the U.S. nuclear triad. With over 70% of our nation's nuclear
arsenal its importance to maintaining world peace cannot be
overstated. The development of Columbia, the most advanced
nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed submarine ever designed, as well the
next D5LE2 weapon system is under way and will begin to be rolled
out over the next decade. The Navy expects this system to be
operational through 2084, meaning the program will have a total
life span of more than 120 years. This is a truly unique program
and BAE Systems employees on this program understand they are part
of an important legacy.Position Description and
Responsibilities:BAE Systems is seeking an experienced senior
mechanical engineer to support our work as a prime contractor on
high-profile U.S Navy weapon systems projects. This senior
mechanical will support the Navy Program Manager responsible for
Strategic Systems Planning (SSP) Facilities Acquisition at TRIDENT
Submarine Bases, primarily at Kings Bay, Georgia and Bangor,
Washington, in developing the assigned projects from concept to
operational stage. This senior position is responsible for
developing conceptual mechanical system requirements, estimated
HVAC loads, estimated Bill of Materials, and facility requirements
documentation. The selected candidate will provide technical peer
reviews of architectural/engineering design submittals, support the
develop of Facilities Design Criteria & Facilities Evaluation
Testing Criteria, and perform constructability reviews of
construction design documentation. Candidate is also responsible to
conduct/prepare engineering study reports and will make
recommendations to solve facilities issues. The senior mechanical
engineer will have experience in the application of various HVAC
related equipment to ensure the most effective system type is
selected for the design of the facility. The senior engineer will
have working knowledge of ASHREA Standards such as 62.1, 90.1 and
183, including the life cycle cost analysis and ventilation
calculations.The senior engineer is responsible for providing input
to comprehensive MILCON documentation and the mechanical portion of
preliminary construction cost estimates.This position will require
the candidate to provide mechanical system guidance associated with
specific SSP facility requirements for construction documentation
to ensure the constructed facility performs the necessary function
of mission. A limited amount of travel to off-site locations could
be required.Position may require generating a moderate amount of
correspondence to internal/external customers, other BAE sector
government property administrators, and other
architectural/engineering personnel. Preparation of presentations
for internal/external peers, and customers.Candidate will also be
required to manage and/or support other disciple tasks as needed.
Must also work with and support corporate Safety, Health,
Environment (SHE) personnel to maintain a safe work environment and
ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies.Maintain the

Experience, & Skills Minimum education and years of
related/relevant professional work experience required: Bachelor's
degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Accredited program
and at least eight years of related/relevant professional work
